Message from President Debra A. Hagan

Drivers who are out on disability or workman's comp that are due for their physical, their licenses are downgraded. It does not matter if they are off the roster. When the expiration date comes and no new medical certificate is sent to Albany, they downgrade the license right then and there. So when they return to work and have the physical done, they must be told to go to the DMV with the new certificate and pay $17 to have it upgraded. I spoke to Albany today and this is what has to be done. Until this is done, they cannot start to drive until the company sees a new license. Any CDL driver with a question can call the DMV medical certification unit.
